Case files: rebuilding business websites
Case file: recovering the web presence of SpeedFreek RC
Think of this as a recovery report for a Florida builder of custom fiberglass RC racing boats, written by the team that recovers data for Computer Outlet customers.
It documents the starting point found in the archive and the information SpeedFreek RC now presents through a product-led store for hulls, assembled boats and parts.
Recovered snapshot: speedfreekrc.com before the rebuild
The snapshot we recovered from the Internet Archive for SpeedFreek RC is stamped February 9, 2011.
In that recovered copy (page title “Home page”) the homepage was a stock Magento storefront template with a Home Page heading and sidebar boxes.
Restored and rebuilt: SpeedFreek RC today
What the client has now is a product-led store for hulls, assembled boats and parts.
The current SpeedFreek RC homepage is captured in the screenshot below.
What data recovery and the SpeedFreek RC rebuild have in common
Both jobs start by finding what still exists, and for SpeedFreek RC that meant checking the archive first.
