Case files: rebuilding business websites
Case file: recovering the web presence of AAA Gun & Pawn
Think of this as a recovery report for a DeLand pawn and gun shop, written by the team that recovers data for Computer Outlet customers.
It documents the starting point found in the archive and the information AAA Gun & Pawn now presents through an online storefront for firearms, ammunition and optics, tied to a custom counter point-of-sale system that syncs with the site.
Recovered snapshot: aaagunandpawn.com before the rebuild
The snapshot we recovered from the Internet Archive for AAA Gun & Pawn is stamped July 26, 2013.
In that recovered copy (page title “Home - AAA Gun and Pawn Inc ”) the homepage was a text-heavy page with a dark banner logo, a row of small text links and plain price and category lists.
Restored and rebuilt: AAA Gun & Pawn today
What the client has now is an online storefront for firearms, ammunition and optics, tied to a custom counter point-of-sale system that syncs with the site.
The first line a visitor reads on the rebuilt AAA Gun & Pawn homepage is “Two floors · A changing selection · One DeLand destination”.
Its menu organizes the recovered information under Shop, Brands, New Arrivals, Pawn / Sell / Trade, About.
What data recovery and the AAA Gun & Pawn rebuild have in common
Both jobs start by finding what still exists, and for AAA Gun & Pawn that meant checking the archive first.
